Our family getaway...

We decided to take a quick family trip for Hubby's birthday to San Diego. It was a really quick trip from Sunday-Tuesday, but it was just what the 4 of us needed. We did our favorite things: eat at the "required" seafood restaurant, ate pizza outside, played on the beach, went on a boat ride around the bay, and more!
I can not believe how great the kids did in the car and hotel. It was Critter's first time seeing the ocean and touching the water/sand. Pumpkin remembered a lot of stuff from the last time we went. Life just keeps getting more and more crazy for us, so it was nice to just take a break and enjoy our family!
Waiting for our pizza. Yes, we were on the ocean...but this place has awesome New York style pizza.....plus since I don't eat much seafood I need a little break! :)
She so takes after me with the cold hands/feet and needing jackets/blankets. He takes after Hubby, he only put a jacket on when he saw Daddy do it.

We spent a fun morning at a small aquarium in the area. It was low-key and fun...

First time for Critter walking on the beach and touching the ocean...
The surf was a little rough for him on this beach, it freaked him out!

So...we went to our favorite beach to play. The tide was out, so there was just calm water and a ton of wet sand to play in. This was a much happier place for Critter! Of course, it was cloudy and a little chilly so I did not think the kids would want to actually get in the water. But...they both did whether it was an accident or not. The funny thing is that on the way back to the hotel the only dry items I had for them were their bathing suits. Funny that we did not put those on BEFORE they got wet! :)

Like I said, it was low tide, AWESOME time to find seashells. Pumpkin and I had so much fun searching. We even found a few sand dollars, how cool that was!

We have a picture of Pumpkin like this from 2007, and it was fun to get one of Critter as well. He was not sure what he was doing though!

Our grown up girl. She has grown up so much since the last time she stood in this same spot.

This afternoon was just what my momma heart needed....look how happy those two kids are! Hubby and I were just as happy to be there and just enjoy them...
Enjoying the boat ride...

They fell asleep rather nicely the second night. I think they were both so tired they really did not care where they slept!

Getting away refreshed us all. It is amazing how just taking a 6 hour drive makes such a huge difference. Hubby still talks about wanting to retire there...but we have many years to figure that out! So...we are back to the grind in our lives, but with a renewed spirit.

A fun Sunday...

We had a really fun weekend last weekend. We headed up to my parents house for a BBQ and then on Sunday went to a rodeo. I don't think any of us have ever been to a rodeo before. We got there early in order to see one of the kids events...Mutton Bustin'. It was kids, ages 4,5,6,7 holding onto a sheep for as long as they could. These kids were good! The mistake was made when my mom asked Critter if he wanted to ride a sheep. We thought he would say "no"...however he said "YES". Then we had to tell him we were joking and he couldn't ride one! It was a warm day and the events were during nap time, but the kids did great. We watched a bunch of the events and then headed home where the kids fell asleep about 10 minutes into the ride! It was just a fun and different kind of day. What made it extra nice was Hubby did not work extra last weekend, so we were able to all go! :)
Playing and distracting before the events started. Yes...if you look closely Pumpkin's front two teeth are gray. She fell about a month ago and hit her teeth on the ground. She is my girl! I am really hoping they go back to almost normal...or they fall out soon! But, she does not mind at all so that is a good thing :)
I can not believe how much fun this little man had. He has been talking about the animals for the entire week!

Of course since we were with my parents we got to "treat" Critter to a ride on a bull....a fake one of course! We could not get Pumpkin to sit up there, even with her brother. He did freak out when we too him off. This thing was HUGE! It is just a cute reminder of a fun day...

A very blessed day...

We had a wonderful Easter at our home. Hubby's parents and my mom came over and we were able to just have a relaxing, nice day. My dad was "dealing" with a golf trip in Baja....I know tough going! But, we had a wonderful day with the family who was here! How fun are these two! Yes...I did the matching outfits :) I don't know how long I will be able to get away with that, so I will take advantage of it while I can!
This goofball was not happy with me until all the grandparents left. I said "no" to too many things she wanted! That is the job of mommy though. I can not believe my mom got this amazing picture of the two of us....that is my girl :)
Off to find the Easter eggs!

The bunny left all sorts of different size and color eggs. She has decided she does NOT like the color green....she left all the green ones for her brother!

He was making me laugh so much. He would run with his full basket of eggs and drop them as he went. He then thought it was funny when he turned around and found more eggs! He also figured out he could ask each of the grandparents separately for candy and they would say yes, since he was not asking the same person all the time! I still have no idea how many jelly beans he ate :)
As you can see from her basket...no green eggs :)
She really wanted this movie (which it totally cute) and the Easter Bunny happened to bring it to her....we already watched it today :)
My mom brought this cute camera. It is plastic and you fill it with water and it squirts when you push the button. You can also flip the switch so when you take the picture you get squirted when you take it. It was only a $1 and the kids LOVED it!

It was a fun day watching the kids have so much fun. Hope your day was just as sweet!
